College Breaks Ground for Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium

Washington College President Baird Tipson and the the Board of Visitors and Governors were joined by the family of Roy Kirby, Jr., students, alumni, and honored guests from the Town of Chestertown for the official groundbreaking on the new Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium to open in Spring 2006.

Named in honor of Roy Kirby, Jr., president of Roy Kirby & Sons, Inc., whose leadership gift to the project helped to push initial fundraising above the $2 million goal, the stadium will feature an all-weather artificial turf field, a 1500-seat capacity, and a 140-person capacity press and multi-purpose skybox room. Official dedication of the stadium is set for April 8, 2006.

The stadium is being built by Warfel Construction of Lancaster, Pa.
