Throughout the month of April, students devised creative ways to conserve energy as part of the George Goes Green competition. Faculty and staff also practice energy-saving methods throughout the year, and their contribution will be measured in next year's competition. Altogether, student efforts this month kept approximately 58,500 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and saved 39,000 kwh, or about $3,700 in electric costs.
The dorms leading in energy reduction are as follows:
50% - Queen Anne's House
44% - East Hall
37% - Western Shore Dorms
30% - Harford Hall
13% - West Hall
Congratulations to Queen Anne's House for winning the competition! Its residents will attend a waterfront barbeque in their honor.
