Terumi Kohwi-Shigematsu '71, the Senior Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, was one of six foundation members selected for Phi Beta Kappa.

College Trustee Susan Denton '69 accepts the Phi Beta Kappa pin on behalf of her friend and classmate, Karen A. Johnson '68.

Clayton Black, associate professor of history (at podium), serves as president of the Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

John Churchill, secretary of Phi Beta Kappa Society, inducts as a foundation member Ralph Snyderman '61 H'04. Snyderman is the former Chancellor for Health Affairs at Duke University.

Former First Lady Ann McLain '40 accepts the Phi Beta Kappa pin on behalf of her friend and classmate, William B. Johnson '40 H'75. Mr. Johnson is the chairman emeritus of the Whitman Corporation.

PBK delegates on hand for the installation were: Dr. Larry Silver, University of Pennsylvania, Dr. James E. Lightner, McDaniel College, Ms. Jean LeGros, Gettysburg College, Ms. Anne Mayer, Wittenburg University, Dr. David Herlocker, McDaniel College, Dr. J. Roy Hopkins, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and Dr. Valerie Neal, President of the Washington DC Area Phi Beta Kappa Association.
