During the Spring Break week, Washington College, Belmont University of Nashville, Tennessee and carpenters from NeighborWorks Columbus built a house at 717 Winston Road in Columbus, Georgia. The team consisted of 24 students, carpenters, staff and faculty in a project organized by the Columbus, GA Habitat for Humanity affiliate. In one week thirteen colleges (265 students) built nine houses, which was the largest group build in the country for 2009. Washington College students not only forged new friendships and enjoyed a great sense of community, they made a major impact on the lives of the family who will be occupying the house.
