Psychology Summer Research

Psychology majors Mandy Moore '11 and Krystin Jansen '11 worked with Dr. Gibson on a project investigating the link between traumatic brain injury and Alzheimer's disease.

Rats were tested in an acoustic startle chamber to determine adaptation and cognitive preparedness to repeated auditory stimuli.
Part of the students' responsibility was to feed and care for the rats daily. Half the subjects were eating a special blueberry-containing diet.
The students and rats looked forward to Fruit Loop Friday when the rats were given Fruit Loops as treats.
Krysten and Mandy presented their summer research findings along with other Natural Science Division student investigators during Fall Family Weekend.
